Roberto Carlos' infamous freekick against France in 1997 is considered arguably the best example of the Magnus effect in reality.The first picture shows a spherical object experiencing the Magnus effect. The trajectory traced by an object experiencing resembles the shape of a banana, often known as the banana ball.

I think this dude is a footballer, maybe he invented some sort of football tactic that involves the effect in question, which is the magnum effect i presume.
