So i was watching this documentary the other day about street style soccer. Its basically a sport which is entirely dedicated to the tricks you can do with the football not necessarily with your feet, while being able to add your own pinch of glamour to it. As the documentary went on, the presenter spoke of break dancing and a certain art form influencing and being a major reason for the rise of this sport.
We have all heard of karate, kung fu blah blah but i never had heard of this one until then.
Its a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences, probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power kicks and quick leg sweeps, with some ground and aerial acrobatics, knee strikes, take-downs, elbow strikes, punches and headbutts.
The name apparently comes from a language called Tupi, referring to the areas of low vegetation in the Brazilian interior.
Whats this art form called? ( coudn't upload a pic, sorry)
